I am super exited! That's what happens when I know I am about to go travelling. I feel like a child in a candy store. I wonder why my heart beats so much in excitement? Maybe I was born to not sit still! :)
The location I am super excited about is Melbourne! I have a couple of sporting events that I am attending - Australian Open 2016 (I am smiling away as far as the other end of the world as I type this) and then I have also managed to secure a T20 cricket match watching Australia Vs India!
I have never been to a live cricket match, and I am excited about this one. While he was a professional I never got to see the legend Sachin Tendulkar play. However the next best thing - as far as Indian Cricket is concerned - is that I will (barring any injury) get to see Mahindra Singh Dhoni play live! It's a dream (about to) come true!
As a big movie fan, I am also looking forward to checking out the ACMI (Australian Centre for Moving Image). Lastly Neighbours set-tour! Which - as an old fan - had to be done!
So going back to travelling I believe the main element about travelling for me is experiencing new places. And also the randomness (and possibly synchronicity) of meeting new souls.
In my view travelling is good for the soul. Not just those holiday where going away is to relax and unwind, but those that are busy and hectic like everyday life. I compare it to reading or watching movies. The more you read/watch movies, the more you are opening yourself up to understanding people and the world around you. Travelling, in a way, gives you that same experience. Your knowledge expands, your awareness expands, your boundaries expand. You start to get more knowledge of the world, you also get to know more about yourself as you experience and interact in new places and cultures.
I also believe that a bit of a residue is left with you as you experience more of the world and it cultures. Hence you are never the same person that you were yesterday.
In terms of growth, what scares me is the idea that as 'spiritual beings having a human experience' we are not growing, learning, experiencing and expanding. I read an interesting quote the other day from Robin Sharma which said "Don't live the same year 75 times, and call it a life". How true! I don't want to get into that routine. Awarness is the key to changing anything. So as long as I am aware of this and other things, I have the power to change it.
It's getting colder in London now, so I am really looking forward to the the next few weeks of blue skies, interacting with new places and people, and genearlly having some experiences that can - fingers crossed - only be good for the soul and its growth.
